Client Stories
Specific notes from finance leads who commissioned policy exception reporting and related fieldwork.
“The register finally named the policy clause next to each overdue supplier payment. Our audit committee stopped asking us to ‘repackage’ the same list three different ways.”
“Walkthrough week was tiring for accounts payable, but the annotated flow meant exception sampling later did not reopen every debate about who should have approved what.”
“They were slower than we hoped on the first draft because our bank advice files arrived late — that delay was on us. Once extracts landed, the severity labels matched what our chair already used.”
“Follow-up review closed eight of eleven aged exceptions with evidence the committee accepted. The three that slipped were written plainly; nobody pretended they were done.”
Extended note: Year-end exception pack, Mong Kok trading group
A mid-sized importer asked for policy exception reporting across two entities sharing one treasury desk. Manuals existed in English with Chinese annexes for petty cash. Fieldwork combined remote ledger pulls with two half-days at their Mong Kok office to inspect wet-signed waiver forms.
The draft register showed recurring same-day dual approvals that the manual required to be separated by role. Management’s first reaction was to collapse those rows; we kept them and added a theme summary so the committee could see the pattern without reading forty lines. The final pack went into the January meeting with one revision after the CFO adjusted remediation owners.
The constraint that mattered most was extract timing: delayed payment-run files pushed delivery by five business days. The engagement letter’s change note covered the shift; the committee still received the register before papers were locked.
